I wouldn't even look at it, and for sure wouldn't eat it. Will People do anything for money?
The popularity of reality TV has raised. The most know in our country are:
"Agent”, „Big Brother", "Bar", "Fear Factor", "Idol", "Everything about Miriam", "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition", "Hell's kitchen", "Wife Swap".
Some of them can be interesting ("Hell's kitchen"), some can be inspiring ("Extreme Makeover") and some can be stupid (like the rest that I've mentioned).
Short description:
"Agent" - It was the first one in our TV.
There were 12 people, 6 men and 6 women. Their goal was to complete missions. For every mission there was an amount of money. Amongst those 12 there was an agent whose job was to hinder the others in completing the mission. The goal at the end was to get a green feather which meant "winner".
"Big Brother" - Some people locked up in a specially made house and everything just to watch how they behave and participate in given tasks. The goal was to eliminate others by nominating them to leave the house.
"Bar" - didn't differ much from "Big Brother", except that the contestants had a bar and had to work.
"Fear Factor" - another name for stupidity. You must do crazy things and eat a lot of ugly stuff to get money. Awful!
"Idol" - A show which's purpose was to find young and talented. Ended like everything else.
"Everything about Miriam" - it's maybe the most controvert of all. A man made a woman and a bunch of other man that try to win his/her heart.
What's the catch? They don't know that she was a man. Disgusting! Briefly: From Marian to Miriam.
"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" - a less rude reality show. The goal is to make poor people happy by building them a dream home.
"Hell's kitchen" - One of my favorites.
The goal is to stay last and be the chef of a restaurant that "is haunted" by Gordon Ramsey, a well know cook.
"Wife swap" - a show in which You can trade your wife for another for a short period of time.
Why people watch such stupidity? Is it curiosity? Don't You think that it's enough?
What else could they invent?
Don't underestimate the minds of the producers, we have more and more coming in.
New reality shows are for example:
"Łapać złodzieja"
A reality show in which You get robbed. A splendid idea! What will be next?
"Jak oni śpiewają"
The title tells You everything You should know.
"Zostań posłem"
A new reality that can make a member of parliament out of You! That's inspiring......

This film with eating eyes is interesting. I think that this is the point. We are interested in what people can do in order to get money. Sometimes we say for fun something like that: I give you 100 zł if you do something ;) So now we have an opportunity to watch it.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the programs like Big Brother? I liked watching it. It was really exciting to peep how people live, how they behave in different situations. Of course everything was staged but still it was a good show. It was a new quality of TV. Now people are bored to watch “normal” reality shows. They are searching for new impressions. “Living TV” station has bought the right to show… death. They paid for it 1 million pounds.
Jade Goody was a star of one of the Big Brother editions. She was completely ignorant when she said that Mona Lisa was painted by Pistachio or that Saddam Husajn was a sportsman….But people loved her (similar story with Doda in Polish). Even she has own line of perfumes Few months ago she was told that she had cancer and she would die soon...

People greed is ubiquitous and those show base on greed. If think you can always find 12 greedy little people who wants to win their most important think in their life - MONEY. TV will always produce such programs because this is the great way to rise money. Why? Because we love to watch how other humiliating themselves for the money. The new show on Polsat wiht Hajzer "Moment Prawdy" is good example what peoples do for cash.

ReplyDeleteI think that "the Agent" was quite interesting and "normal". After that all the "Big Brother" boring crap. And all tear-moving stuff like "Makeover". Ehh I have no TV and won't have one never again.
I don't like reality shows... but I used to like them.
ReplyDeleteWhen shows like this started to air in our country it was something new and it was exciting to watch.
"Agent" was really good and so was the first Big Brother... it was new and it wasn't about celebrities but about "normal" people.
I remember that some people ordered sms services to be informed about everything in the Big Brothers house or they were paying to have access to cameras in the house for 24h a day...
Now it is different... now many shows depend on celebrities again or they are extreme like some mentioned above in the post.

ReplyDeletewhen big brother was aired first time, we didn't know what to expect, it was something new, i think that's why it was so popular,
fresh idea is the key to the success, but there's a limit, and according to viewing figures people get bored watching new seasons of the the same old shows
and that's why we got plenty of (more or less)stupid programs ;-)
Well... I watched the movie with eyeballs. One thing comes to my mind. That is SICK! And if somebody does it to win money it's SICK squared.

I wonder why that shows are needed. Maybe people need to see drastic things. Level goes up each time. Soon will see people eating people... n/c.
From time to time I have a chance to see something while flipping channels over. And after a short while I give up. I'm not capable of watching that stuff.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion television climb down to the dogs becouse of programs like this. people wants to be on television screen, wants to be famous, but they forgot about their health and they don't think about consequences. The question is: what else people can do for money?

Unfortunately more of them are past nowadays (like: „Big Brother", "Bar") When it comes to Agent it was quite interesting and in my opinion it was more educable than other. But bar ? or bigbrother... what a mess ....
ReplyDeleteI never liked Big Brother and such Reality shows. But Extreme makeover isnt that bad. When i go to my hometown on weekends and am staying at home i like to watch it from time to time. Mainly Because i like constructions and such. I dont know why people watch stupid shows.. maybe because they want to know that there is always someone who is more stupid then them ? ;]
