Today I would like to talk about some popular TV shows related to cars.
I think that all of you must have seen at least one of following:

- 'Pimp My Ride':
Few episodes of Pimp My Ride (Its is somehow divided in 3 parts automatically played one after another with break for commercials)
In this show some Americans get their cars repaired and pimped..
On the margin..
I dont know if they have some mind illness or not.. but I simply cant understand how it is possible to ruin a car to that level and just drive it around.
I have never been to USA, but if reality is similar to that showed in this program, I would be afraid of driving there. I just hope that all this is just directed on the purposes of the show.
Do you find that kind of shows interesting, entertaining, boring or just plain stupid?
By myself I find Top Gear quite interesting. They show various informations about cars in humorous way. And they mix it with some entertainment so it isnt to boring.
As for Pimp my ride.. I think that I wouldnt give them my car to be pimped up.. You never know what they will do with it :) - I wouldnt be happy if they painted my car in rainbow colours and put some strange equipment under its trunk..
Would you like to take part in Pimp My Ride program? Or would you rather changed it for free visit in authorized workshop if you had that option?

I heard that top gear lies in the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcxP-vOffNI (sound track was removed - I wonder why...). However it's still a great show (but maybe not so great source of information).
I do not watch a lot of tv, so I'm not very familiar with these programs.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely prefer to have my car just repaird for free. In fact my front brake shoes need to be changed so if you know any of these programs you can write me down. :D
I also, like Michał don’t watch TV very often and what’s more, I’m not a great fan of cars. As far as the program “Pimp my car” is concerned; for me the car is a mean of transportation and I don’t treat it like an art. I have one rule about cars. When you have a car and you use it, you should keep it clean outside and inside. The most embarrassing situation is when someone proposes you to give a lift and you find a real mess in the car.

I wouldn't like to have my car pimped without me knowing about what will be changed and how it will be changed.
My car is not a mess and I don't really think that it needs any changes.
I watched some episodes of TopGear and I think It's quite funny. But, of course like in other shows, directed. Of course i tell about races, competition ,etc. Like in wrestling, sport to make money :)

ReplyDeleteI know that car would look better clean and that's why I'm going to vacuum and wash it this weekend. Still, it won't hold me back from throwing trash behind the seat. lol
I'm not interested in cars subject so if i spend time near TV i'd rater watch something else. But I think this program is different than others because it's hosts are really factual.
ReplyDeleteCars are a nice subject when it comes to tv shows. I personally like when they do something funny with them, but in my opinion all those "pimp programs" are crap. They take your old car and make something that doesn't really look like a car. Too much. The only show that I really liked with cars was "Monster Garage", because it was funny and interesting. My car isn't also a mess and it doesn't really need any drastic changes. Only some little to give a better character like aluminum boards for number plates, a nicer but not louder muffler, diode winkers in side mirrors and so on.. Something that can't be spotted right away and looks like it should be there when the car left his place of birth.
ReplyDeletewhen it comes to car related tv-programs, Top Gear is a runaway leader, it is more tv-show than a ordinary program. I also like Fifth Gear, which is more like a proper program with practical tests and reasonable car reviews

ReplyDeletei remember two quite interesting tv shows on TVN Turbo:
28 sekund - that was about polish firefighters. i liked that, because i always wanted to be a firefighter.
Motocyklicznie - something about motorcycles, but it wasn't that interesting as they kept showing mostly scooters.
I liked to watch orange country choppers (or smth like). Yeah, I know its not connected with cars, but the show was interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am watching only a Top Gear which is over time:) It's so funny... I love Clarksons dialogues! :) I wish them to do some episodes about motorcycles or 4x4 :) Great show!
ReplyDeleteI watched Top Gear few years ago, but now there is more like cabaret then useful tv programme about cars and technology. I rather don't watch tv shows like "Pimp my ride" etc. simply because I have no time for that :)
ReplyDeleteI just adore TopGear. I like very special humor and their attidude to testing cars. Clarkson, May and Hammond is the ultimate enetertaining trio. No auto show could possibly match with them. I'd like something like TopGear was made in Poland. shame that's not likely to happen.
