Healthy eating

Hi there,

Nowadays we are so busy that we forget about basics - health. In next three days I'll divide my articles in tree parts:
  • Healthy eating
  • Sport
  • Stress
It would be great if you post some comment about how do you keep your health in good condition and what is your activity.

Today I'll start about Health eating and mention about some basics.

If we want that our diet was healthy and provide us the necessary ingredients, we need to ensure that the daily menu were the products of the five food groups. Fortunately about a healthy diet has become very common. Healthy eating is one of the new trends, which can be seen on the market.

Carbohydrates

It is primarily cereal products, rice, potatoes. They provide a lot of energy, and the resulting fiber gives a feeling of satiety and speeds up metabolism. The body receives a proper portion of carbohydrates, if we may eat during the day a total of 5-6 slices of dark bread, 5 medium potatoes and 3 tablespoons of flour, groats and pasta.

Vegetables and fruit

The organism derives from them a portion of its required vitamins, minerals, fiber and other substances that are essential for health. They should eat about 500 g per day. It should be severe in the middle. In determining the menu, please note that the healthiest are celery, carrots, spinach, tomatoes and cucumbers. Fruits should be eaten but instead of sweets.

Dairy Products

Provide valuable protein and calcium needed for bones. Regulate the processes of protein metabolism and many body functions, ensuring the proper functioning of the state and our body. First of all this group includes milk, yoghurt, cheese and kefir.

Fats

Supplied in the diet are usually of animal or vegetable origin .It is indispensable for organism functionality. Fat in the body is responsible for regulating body temperature, as an insulating layer. However, eaten in excess leads to obesity. It is therefore sufficient for the organism to 30 - 40 g per day. Fats are present in: lard, olive oil, oils and margarine. The least healthy are lard and butter. Should therefore be replaced by vegetable fats, rich in vitamins.

Meat, fish, eggs

Provide large quantities of fully animal protein, vitamins of group B. Just so, when each of these products we may eat once a day.

During the day do you care about variety form of consuming products ? Do you care about what do you eat ? What about breakfast , does it always present in your daily routine ? Share your opinion about eating during the day.

Cheers,
Sebastian

  1. I hardly ever eat breakfast as it is. I only eat it if I know I'm going to be doing something stressful like taking a test that I will need brain power for. Eating in the morning makes me feel kind of sick anyway. But then again, I seldom eat dinner either. Lunch is really the only full meal of the day I get, and I wouldn't give it up.

  2. We shouldn't forget that healthy diet is only part of healthy life style. it's also very important to keep our body in good condition. Best ways to do that are e.q everyday jogging, swimming, playing active games like football, basketball, paint ball and other that make us sweating. It's most important for us...IT specialists, who are sitting in front of computers the great part of the day ;)

  4. Yes, I try to care about the variety of my meals, but it's not always that easy when you're in a hurry. Yes, I care about what I eat, so I rather go for quality products, but not always "over-commercialised" ones.
When it comes to breakfast then I have to say that I don't eat it every day. Sometimes I'm in for a long sleep and wake up when it's time for lunch :-). In my opinion it is good to eat fruits and vegetables. I've even bought a blender lately to make some "extreme strawberry smoothies" (frozen strawberry's, banana and some apple juice) and I have to tell that drinking this kind of vitamin C is tasty :-). I recommend it to You all.

  5. I always try to have 2 meals a day minimum. Usually it is a breakfast and dinner/supper. And i try not to eat after 6 pm unless im really hungry.

As for variety of products in my case it isnt too rich. I usually stick to some sandwiches in the morning and rice or pasta with some meat for dinner. From time to time i visit a restaurant to eat something different ;] I think that my diet isnt the most healthier one..

  6. (s3572)

Recently I don't care about what am I eating. I really put much energy to eat slowly (that requires an good self-organization skills to find time for that), semi-healthy (anything different from mc donalds is good enough) and at the same constant hours (excluding weekends when I finally can sleep till noon).

  8. I would like to extend your paragraph about fats. The best fats are those which are rich in Omega-3 fatty acid. Why? We have to balance Omega-3 (fish, olives, flax) and Omega-6 (sunflower, soya bean, animal fat) fatty acids. So you see, it is not enough to consume vegetable oil! Why we have to balance it? Because when one of the acids dominates it is not good for our body. Poles eat not much of Omega-3, so they have higher probability to have heart attack or even cancer!

First of all, I recommend to substitute flax or olive oil for vegetable or animal oil (it contains the highest amount of Omega-3). The worst is the sunflower oil! Additionally, you may supplement your diet with cod-liver oil (fish fat) in pills.
If you want to know more about food please read David Servan-Schreiber’s book: "Anticancer, a New Way of Life". It is also available in Polish bookstores.

  9. hmmm... a prefer eat a two meals per day. Breakfast and dinner. I know it's not very healthy but i don't have much time to make a meal and i don't want to eat at restaurant every day.

I have two more sins in my feeding. First is that I prefer meat than vegetables and I eat it very rarely. The second is that i like from time to time eat in fastfood bar. I know that is very unhealthy but i can't stop to do that :(

someday maybe i'll try to eat all this healthy things... maybe...

  10. I like eating and I have breakfast, dinner and supper every day. I have one big advantage... I'm living with my parents so I don't have to "hunt" for something good to eat :)

When it comes to vegetables and fruits I like most of them but there is another problem... allergy. I simply can't eat many vegetables or fruits because when I do I... swell :)

It's not very comfortable when you have to be vigilant everytime you eat something new.

  11. As far as eating is concerned, my daily routine looks like this: I rarely have breakfast, and when I do, it is not an exceptionally healthy one. I usually eat a snickers bar with coke. When it comes to dinner I prepare a big meal myself. I put in a lot of vegetables, rice/pasta, red meat and make a delicious sauce. After I finish eating I feel an urge to lay down for at least two hours to take a deep rest. Only then I am ready to stand up and a take any constructive action whatsoever.

  12. For about 3 month now I am on a diet, so I have something to say about healthy eating. My doctor told me, that best advice he could give me about eating is to ... think what you’re eating. My eating habits were not bad, but despite that I couldn’t lose weight. There is a lot of fat and sugar in almost everything. Such things like pizza, kebeb, mayonnaise have insanely many calories. That’s why I’ve started to eat wisely. ;o) After 3 month I am slimmer, a have a lot of energy and I lost 7 kg. ;o)

  14. I have problems with healthy eating. Generally I lack the time to prepare it. It is very hard to eat properly and stay mobile because it involves that you have to carry some food all the time.
