"Moscow Eye"-strange or not?

Radar system near Chernobyl in Ukraine called "Moscow Eye" was probably the main Soviet part of anti-ballistic missile systems. Two gigantic aerials 185m, 86 m. height and over half kilometers long is visible even from deep space. The bigger one was a receiving aerial which have 3000 km monitoring area. Uunofficially called Zahoryzontnyj Radiolokatsyjnyj Kompleks, in short way "Moscow Eye".

Station "Chornobyl - 2" have started to build in 1970. Eyewitnesses recollect the unique crane which used for installation of antennas. The especial detail that was amazing for everybody - the lift on which the crane operator rose in the booth. Elements of an antenna lattice have been made on factory "Gomselmash" in Belorussia, from high-alloy steels and are covered by a thick layer of zinc, they even today, more than thirty years later, looks as new. It's strange.

Aerials emitted strange, notorius singals all over the World. It could be heard by amateur radio operators on shortwave radio bands between July 1976 and December 1989. In U.S.A, this signals called "Russian Woodpeker". It sounded like a sharp, repetitive tapping noise, at 10 Hz, giving rise to the "Woodpecker" name.

Nowadays aerials looks to be deserted but still have own security who keep away this strange monument of Soviet regime from unwanted eyes.

Some of conspiracy theory says that aerials still works. Do you believe it? What is your opinion about this strange aerials? Maybe you know things something like this?

No I don't believe it. After the explosion of Chernobyl power plant and contamination of the woods surounding it the use of the antenas had to be stopped. It was well known by NATO radar installation to detect balistic missiles. I find the USA weather control program much more "strange" :-) High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP)

  2. i hate conspiracy theories, especially those connected to armies and jews. how can people be so naive to even consider it being true?

  3. I don't believe in everything but I like all those mysteries, consiracy theories etc.
It is fun when you think that there is something more going on than it really is...

Many stories about aliens... or should I say about meteorological balloons... are ridiculous but there are few which are interesting.
Same thing about all theories about the end of the world... we had so many world ends so far :) But still... some of the theories are really well prepared with many materials, clues etc.

It is nice when everything "fits" and you hear that something is going on for centuries now and no one knows what is really going... only gossip :)

What do you think about Area 51?

  4. Maybe someone has played too much "Stalker"? :-). It's possible that it's still used. You never know when it comes to Russians. I think that not only they have their "aerials". It only looks deserted.

  5. No matter if it works. It looks cool and I would love to go and see it for myself :D I wonder how many more secrets are there in Russia.

  6. According to Chernobyl... I've heard that nowadays there aren't any radiation on disaster place which can be harmful for people. However Russian deny this information, because they want to buy all lands there. When people think that lands in Chernobyl are infected, they are really cheap and Russian can buy them for very low price.

  7. Russians had always strange ideas about technology. But because engineers from many countries try to build electronic devices in that large scale today we have opportunity to use every day new technology. It think those aerials were just another mysterious project but today only few people knew about exact reason of making such think in the 70 s

  8. It’s funny that my friend from Ukraine hasn’t heard about this construction ;)
So I think that it does not work. I’m not an expert but I think that it’s old-fashioned and I cannot imagine how it works, I mean that if it collects so many information how to select the right one? And maybe it was used in anode signal years ago but now almost everyone uses digital coded “signal” ;)
    Good luck :D

  9. I have heard about it. Soviet union was so huge, that they needed a enormous communication system. Russians made a chain of these antennas to preserve contact. Nowadays I'ts easier to use a cellphone. ( do they have a network coverage on syberia?, don't think so)

  10. There was a time I read about Charnobyl a lot, because it was for me very interesting topic. In my opinion it is one of the most mysterious topic on the world near aliens stories and so on. Some people believe that Russian still do some experiments there and they are preparing to the 3rd world war. But for now in Charnobyl is still plundered by thief's stealing radiators from empty flats and other valuable things especially radiation is not so big as earlier. I've heared even about trips you can buy to Charnobyl to see this no mans land.
Even in game market Charnobyl has its 5minutes in game called Medal Of Honor, I believe you heard about this great game :)

  11. I dont think that its still working but for sure it is a good position for every tourist being there just right next to whole charnobyl city. It would be great to see it in 'real'. For first reason - because its interesting construction, and for second because i find such deserted places interesting ;]

  12. I've read somewhere that if that antenna would be turned on for maximum power it could drown
everything in Europe and Asia. And that's a power!

  13. Russian technology work? Rather not ;) I don't known if they used it after Charnobyl but now it's great attraction for tourist (climate straight from Fallout ;) and we should thank Russia for that ;]
