Working in a corporation

Many of you think about: “how does working look like in Microsoft?” Maybe you are thinking that it is a simple job which is mainly based on reading emails and drinking cola. Below the film shows that employees in this big corporation have time for: themselves, are independence to choose, and they are satisfied with work. It sounds like marketing kitsch but please check yourself in the following film:

If you are not convinced I propose to watch another film. This time we may see how the company takes care of its employees. Everyone who has thought that the place where he works is friendly and favourable to develop himself should once again think over it after watching the next video. The next material shows an employee who tries to use every privilege which he obtains during one day. How dose he do that? Please watch it now:

At the end I want to show that work in big corporation may cause mental disturbances ;)

So what do you think about work in a corporation? I know that those films reveal in a funny way the reality and perhaps real work is totally different but maybe some information is true. What do you think?

  1. I have never worked myself in company like MS. I aplied for a work, but fortunately I wasn't hired. These places are nor for me.

I talked with a headhunter about different companies. She told me about working in big corporations like MS, Dell, HP etc. She pointed out that big corporation give their workers all the attractions to tie them to the firm. She said it was very difficult to leave all that goodness, bonuses, free stuff no matter how exhausting and burning out was a work.

If I worked for a corporation like MS, I would definitely feel that there are hundreds of people happy to take my place.

When I speak with colleagues working in accenture I'm shocked how much they hate their jobs... I think that there are some easily-definable rules: big company-many resources, small company-ease of promotion, big company-stupid boss, small company-no bureaucracy...etc

  3. I'm interesting if here in Warsaw Microsoft office employees has also so many perks as theirs colleges in other offices for example in Redmond. In my opinion working for a big company is quite interesting but only if you are not working in low cost office of this company :P

  4. Like everything it has advantages and disadvantages. I have never worked for such a big corporation so I can't point them out... but not everything is black or white... you can't say that small is good and big is bad etc. We all need different things.

  5. I think that it all depends on company. In general, companies in Poland tend to offer more to their employees then just an employment. When it comes to benefit system, very popular are 'sport cards' given to employees which allows to enter many sport objects in whole country free of cost.

I agree that whole idea of Benefit System is there to tide employee to company. And i think that it is a wise strategy.

    Some time ago i have worked in Outsourcing Company which employed people just to send them to dedicated project and then when the project ended just fired them. It is clear that they didnt offer anything more to their employees besides employment and poor money compared to what they earned from their clients in return for 'experts';

Of course their employees werent happy with that so average employment time in this company was like 2-4 months. Client companies couldnt accept such 'expert' rotations so they broke agreement when there was opportunity.

    So resuming,
Employee rotations arent any good for companies so wise companies use Benefit System to keep their employees inside.

  6. hm, i've been on a recrutation meeting in IBM. that was a nightmare. i'd rather be unemployed than work there.. unless i would earn $1,000 a day ;)

currently i work in a very small IT company (5 people) and it's great. i would love to try working with just 1 or 2 close friends.

  7. If You don't mind to be a machine, have no family and friends then You can work for such a company. In any other option You have to be the manager to have the possibility to have some time for yourself. If You want to be a robot or in be "in the matrix" then go for it!

  8. I think that working in a big corporation has some advantages. Higher sallary, less problems, because you have few bosses who are worried for you and you can only do your job. What else? You have clearly defined responsibilities - you know what you should do but... you are nobody there... You are only a drop in the sea... You don't know your collegues, your boss doesn't even know your name, nobody wants to know your opinion about your job... You don't like it? We have twenty other guys for your place. Bye!

  9. Really I don't think that working for microsoft is so sweet. Problem with corporations is that because of their size, there are serious management issues. Managers use to deal with them by using those "remarkable methods" like time sheets, reports, rebuilding the hierarchy of management personel. Most of those methods just spoil your working day and you will to live. Sitting all day and filling the report on that you have done today instead of doing it is an absurd.

  10. I think working in Company has ups and downs. I definitely would like to work at Google - even though it's huge corporation, it's "worker-friendly" and it cares about employee
(I saw document about working there, and now I want to be there ;)
